Mary Beth Frederick talked me into dressing up and working out with the freshman football team to do a feature article for the school paper (Hinsdale Courier??). I had to make up one of those mouthguards in the girls locker room and get into full football gear. Nobody hit me, we just did drills. I was a junior at the time and a couple of the freshmen recognized me but I told everybody else I was a transfer from York. One kid asked for the York playbook and another one told me I’d better cut my hair or “Coach will get you.” I love football but not enough to play it.
